Riding the train

Last Saturday we were trying to think of a fun yet inexpensive thing to do as a family. the girls love trains and Utah has the Trax public transit train so we decided to test it out. Needless to say it was a big hit. We rode it from Sandy up to Temple Square, and at every stop Eva would say "I want to go again!" When it was time to get off the train there were some tantrums, but I got some good shots of the temple before we headed over to the Conference Center. We took a tour and got to go up to the rooftop, which is beautifully landscaped. On the way home we had a little detour because we failed to pay attention to which train we got on, but we had some lunch and got back on the right train. If you have kids and have some time to waste I recommend taking a train ride!

And I have to comment on one of the things on the rooftop of the Conference Center, they have a mural up there made from granite, it is the coolest thing. They have compiled images of all different people from all different time periods that have been sandblasted into the stone. At the top it says "And this gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred and tongue, and people." from Doctrine and Covenants 133:37, and as the tour guide pointed out, you can see yourself in the reflection as well. I though it was SO cool. There is a picture in the slide show, but here is the close up shot - you can see my reflection in it:

What a clever idea for an outing! I might have to do that with my little train-obsessed boy!!

I loved the roof top tour too! We have a great family photo there from our trip a few years back. That and the Alpine slide! Oh yeah, that was Eva's blessing trip, duh.
